the kids and i have been busy picking lots of blueberries, hiking, swimming and exploring on the mostly rocky beaches. the other day we found 50 sea urchin shells (!!) in a favorite mossy, wooded spot near the ocean (i think it was a soft landing for them after the seagulls were done nibbling.) after abandoning (with some thoughtful consideration regarding the logisitics) mr. 6 1/2's idea if turning them into a glittered sea urchin belt for mommy, (i thought of you, daria!) we've been working on another, more delicately finished crafty idea for them that i will share here soon.
and after 38 years of passing them by on the beach in search of more interesting treasures, i also discovered that i think mussel shells are really lovely. who would've guessed it?
