we are experiencing perfect weather and a perfect weekend. the kind that makes you think a little bit about potential time-freezing possibilities.
i took approximately a gazillion pictures of these twinkly lights against some big old windows at sunset last night - i was smitten with how beautiful it all looked.

were you starting to wonder if i was going to post any art ever again? yeah, me too. but here you go: some new work today: a piece i made for SPIN, my upcoming show with mati mcdonough at rare device, opening 9/2/10 in san francisco. we are doing a whole show inspired by our love of vintage board games, and i am so excited. more info to come in the next few weeks.

one thing i've been doing more lately is being a little bit braver about using my camera's manual settings. i make *a lot* of weird mistakes, and when i'm lucky i have a few happy accidents. i like the way this photo came out.

this is a fun video for the lego (and the like) nerds among us and anyone who marvels at the time and patience it takes to do something like this (aka my kids and me.) pretty nifty.

yesterday i stumbled upon the current window installation by noh seokmee at space gallery. i love, love, love everything about this. swoon.
when i was up on mount desert island last weekend i took a lot of pictures. i've been having some issues with my eyes lately so it was bit of a flying blind crap shoot, but i got a few good ones, i think. i take a lot of snaps of flowers each summer at the thuya and azalea gardens, mostly for drawing inspiration at other times of the year. i love visiting both places so much, as i've said here many times. if you're visiting the island, you won't be disappointed, i promise.

"ellie, you'll never believe it. mom's 'getting her groove on' in there, i think." really, i think we're there now.
