taproot magazine

taproot! a brand new quarterly magazine; a venture/colloration between amanda soule, jason miller and ted blood. i made the papercut cover. it was an honor to be asked, and a really fun project to work on.

in amanda's words, taproot is a collection of curated stories written by and for people living fully and digging deeper; people who are interested in deepening their connections to their families, communities, and themselves as they strive to live locally and closer to the ground. In all the very different ways that manifests from family to family and home to home, at taproot, we hope to find the connecting thread that binds us together.

please do check out this lovely new magazine and read amanda's words about all of the thought and work that went into this project. i am glad to have been a part of its beginnings, and i can't wait to have the first issue in my hands. there are lots of great contributors - writers, photographers and illustrators. thank you so much, amanda, for asking me to do this.

peacocks, ferns and clover

one thing i've loved to do over the past few years is to collaborate here and there with sarah parrott on some various wedding invitations. i've shared them here before, but not for quite awhile.  sarah does a really beautiful job on everything she makes, and it is always fun to see how she incorporates my little illustrations into the overall finished product. for this set i was asked to draw some peacocks, clover and ferns. yes, please! it is a treat to see my line drawings letterpressed. i love how they turned out. all of these photos were taken by sarah and are shared here with permission.for more details about the specifics, please see sarah's post about it here.

summer wedding

i had the pleasure of drawing another set of custom illustrations for my dear cousin and her wonderful fiance's upcoming wedding invitations, printed and executed beautifully, once again, by the super talented sarah parrott. (you can read a little about sarah's process here.) i really, really love working with sarah, because i always know whatever we do together will turn out just as i am hoping. she's a total pro, and i highly recommend her if you're in the market for custom printing!

nina and alex are getting married this summer at pirate's point, a private, family place that is extremely near and dear to my heart - a family spot we've all grown up loving, playing and exploring together since we were babies. i am truthfully a little jealous i didn't get married there!

and you can see my little drawing of the stone fireplace on their invite. they chose the colors and the gatefold design, which i really like. my invite came in the mail today, and i am super excited for the wedding.
